2. Scope of this notice
This notice covers personal data processed by the public-facing
company website at maranoxtech.ie. The separate domain
maranox.ie is the customer website for our Maranox Marine
software product. This notice does not cover personal data
processed by our individual products (Calving Watch or Maranox Marine),
each of which has its own privacy notice published
separately.
3. What data we process on this website
Information you give us by emailing us
If you contact us at hello@maranox.ie,
legal@maranox.ie, or any other
@maranox.ie address, we will receive your email address and
whatever you write in your message. We use this only to respond to
your enquiry.
Server-level technical data (logs)
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical request information — such as IP address, browser user-agent, requested or referring URL, and timestamp — to deliver and secure the site, including DDoS protection and abuse prevention. We do not run application-level request logging or keep a separate copy of raw request logs for this static website.
Privacy-conscious website measurement
We use PostHog's EU service to count visits to the main page types and clicks on the clearly labelled product and email links. This helps us see whether the website sends people to the right next step. The implementation does not use cookies or local storage, autocapture, session replay, form capture, advertising identifiers, or person profiles. It does not send email addresses, message content, full URLs, query strings, or referring URLs to PostHog. Measurement is disabled when the browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track.
PostHog receives the limited event data and network information needed to deliver its EU-hosted service. We use this on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding whether this small corporate website works and improving its product handoffs (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not set first-party analytics cookies or use local storage for analytics. It does not run advertising trackers.
Cloudflare may set strictly necessary technical cookies to operate the website and protect it from abuse. These are exempt from consent requirements under Regulation 5(5) of S.I. 336/2011 (the ePrivacy Regulations).
Web fonts
The website loads typography from Bunny Fonts, a privacy-focused open-source web font CDN that does not log IP addresses or set tracking cookies. No data about you is shared with third-party advertising networks as a result of viewing this website.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- General, press, or partnership enquiries: our legitimate interests in reading, routing, and responding to correspondence and keeping enough context to avoid duplicate or inconsistent replies (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Requests for a quote, trial, product, or service: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or performing a contract where one already exists (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Server logs and security data: our legitimate interests in delivering, protecting, and troubleshooting the website, including abuse and DDoS prevention (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Limited website measurement: our legitimate interests in understanding aggregate page and CTA use so we can improve the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Sharing your data
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — our hosting and DDoS-protection provider, processing technical request logs as data processor.
- PostHog, Inc. — our EU-hosted, cookieless website measurement provider, processing limited page-type and CTA event data as data processor.
- Google Cloud EMEA Limited (Google Workspace) — if you correspond with us via
@maranox.ie, the email is delivered through our Google Workspace account. - BunnyWay d.o.o. (Bunny Fonts) — serves the website fonts from European infrastructure under its stated zero-logging and no-tracking policy.
- Authorities — where required by law or court order.
6. International transfers
Cloudflare and Google or their subprocessors may process or transfer data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, the providers state that they use appropriate transfer mechanisms, which may include adequacy decisions, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable, and contractual safeguards. Bunny Fonts states that it is operated from Europe and does not log or track font requests.
7. Retention
We review general enquiry correspondence at least annually and normally delete it within 24 months of the last substantive contact. If an enquiry becomes a customer, supplier, partnership, legal, or contractual matter, relevant correspondence moves to the record schedule for that relationship and may be kept longer where needed for the contract, a legal obligation, or the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims. Cloudflare retains service data in accordance with its service terms and the settings applied to the Pages project; we do not maintain a separate raw request-log store for this website.
8. Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- Request erasure ("right to be forgotten") in defined circumstances;
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Receive your data in a portable format;
- Lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
To exercise any of these rights, email legal@maranox.ie. We will respond without undue delay and within one month, as required by Article 12(3) GDPR.
9. Automated decision-making
We do not use this website to make decisions about you using automated processing, including profiling. Decisions about how to respond to your correspondence are made by a human at Maranox Technologies.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. The authoritative version is always the one published at this URL.
